Tinsukia district administration gears up for polls in three LACs

TINSUKIA, March 6: The Tinsukia district administration is gearing up for the assembly polls in 122 Tinsukia, 123 Digboi, and 125 Doomdooma LACs while 124 Margherita and 126 Sadiya LACs have their respective Retuning Officers.

On Saturday, Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta elaborated preparedness for smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the three LACs under Tinsukia segments. While for 124 Margherita and 126 Sadiya LACs, the respective ROs will act independently, he informed.

A total of 6,91,415 voters will exercise their franchise in 855 polling stations in five LACs across the district. In 122 Tinsukia LAC, altogether 1,41,401 voters (73857 male, 67544 female); in 123 Digboi LAC, 112986 voters (58110 male, 54876 female); in 124 Margherita LAC, 1,61,498 voters; in 125 Doomdooma LAC, 119384 voters (61,001 male, 58,383 female) and in 126 Sadiya LAC 1,56,146 voters will decide the fate of the contesting candidates.

Out of 166 polling stations under 122 Tinsukia LAC, 9 polling stations are hyper sensitive and 38 sensitive, the corresponding figure for other LACs are 123 Digboi-140 PS (2 and 57); 124 Margherita-191 PS (20 and 106); 125 Doomdooma-160 PS (9 and 66) and 126 Sadiya- 198 PS (45 and 33).

The district administration has divided the Tinsukia LAC into 5 zones and 17 sectors, Digboi LAC into 6 zones and 15 sectors, Doomdooma LAC into 7 zones and 15 sectors while the figures for Margherita and Sadiya LACs are not available.

With expenditure and monitoring teams have already on their jobs, Puru Gupta called upon the political parties and contesting candidates to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct which is already in force till the completion of entire election exercises.
