Tinsukia MLA draws flak for incomplete and deplorable roads

From our Correspondent

TINSUKIA, Dec 23: Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan faced the ire of several women after the activists of Tinsukia Mahila Samity demonstrated in front of his house recently for his alleged lackadaisical attitude towards incomplete roads under Ward No 7 of Tinsukia Municipality, and submitted a memorandum to him.
The MLA, however, assured the protesters to complete the road works within January 2018. Parbotia Feeder Road being the main artery road, several by-roads connecting Tinsukia College and Parbotia Road had been in deplorable state since February after the contractor abandoned the roads half-done leading to accidents and inconveniences. The contractor allegedly dug good metalled roads and laid stone chips with sand in the month of January-February 2017. The residents approached all the officials concerned of TMB but without any visible effect. The engineering section on the pretext of rain gave false promises. A formal complaint was also lodged at the District Administration’s Public Grievance Redressal System (Complaint ID 76) which turned out to be an eye wash. Recently executive officer in-charge of Tinsukia Municipality was fed with all information, including photographs, but apparently without any effect.
The municipal authorities allegedly did not submit the matching grant of 10 per cent to the central fund applicable to this project. With accidents reporting daily, some of them are fatal, the tax payers of ward number 7 have urged the authorities concerned for early completion of roads.
