Tinsukia records 58.8 pc pass percentage

TINSUKIA, May 31: After several years, Tinsukia district secured 4th position with 58.8 per cent pass percentage in district-wise performance in the HSLC exam, results of which were declared on Wednesday. The rural based institutions performed comparatively better than urban schools. Out of 22 centres in the district, Pangree High School centre recorded 74.2 per cent pass percentage of which 25.2 per cent achieved first division, followed by Dirak HS School centre with 65.3 per cent pass percentage and 26.3 per cent achieved first division. Philobari High School centre recorded 61.8 per cent pass percentage and 31.4 per cent achieved first division. Significantly, most of feeder schools are private and venture institutions located in insurgency-prone areas. Among urban school centres, Tinsukia Bengali HS School centre having 12 feeder schools excelled best with 76.1 per cent pass percentage and first division holders of 53.5 per cent followed by Seiram HS School centre with 77.9 per cent pass percentage and 39.9 per cent first division holders.
