Tinsukia Rotary Club holds free phaco-cataract operation camp

DOOMDOOMA, May 1: Rotary Club of Tinsukia, in association with Lakhmi Eye Care Centre and Indian Medical Association (IMA), Tinsukia Chapter, organized a free phaco-cataract operation camp at Lakhmi Eye Care Centre, Tinsukia on Sunday as part of the Rotary Foundation (TRF) Centennial Celebration Eye Care Mission.

Under the supervision of Dr RC Paul, eye surgeon of Susrut Hospital Kolkata, a team of doctors comprising Dr G S Gogoi, Dr Swaraj Bhattacharjee and Dr Alaka Devi operated 18 patients with the help of latest state-of-the-art eye treatment machines brought from Kolkata. Dr Nee Das Dey (pediatrician) and president, Tinsukia Rotary Club, also attended the camp.

Besides, 12 persons doted their eyes which will be preserved in the eye bank in Dibrugarh. The eye donors were later felicitated at the regular meeting of the club held in the evening.
