tiol archery player languishes in poverty

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Nov 16: Bichitra Mushahary is an archery player who participated in various tiol archery events held across the country. But she has allegedly been deprived of government assistance. Bichitra Mushahary lives in Rowdowa gaon of Numaligarh under Golaghat district. She was born in 1995 to Babul Musahari and Sukani Mess. Her father died when she was 13. Recognizing her potential, she was selected by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).  She played in State and tiol-level archery competitions. From 2011 to 2014 for four years she won the Dibrugarh University inter-college archery competition. She came third in Assam Olympics in 2011. Despite her success in archery she had to leave college in BA 4th semester due to poverty. She has no bow to practice. She earns her livelihood as a daily wage earner and as helper at Vivekanda Kendra. She is also working as archery coach in Bokakhat Stadium.

Her family, which includes her mother, sister and younger brother, are living in abject poverty. Yet she dreams of representing her country in the world stage of archery.
