tiol award to AAU scientists

JORHAT, July 17: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has selected two scientists—Dr. Badal Bhattacharyya, Senior Scientist and Dr. Satyendra Kumar Dutta, Professor, Department of Entomology of Assam Agricultural University for the prestigious Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Award, 2014, stated a press release.

Basically, the award is given for outstanding research and extension services in tribal areas. The scientists are being offered the award for their significant research and extension work in the world’s largest river island Majuli, on Lepidiota mansueta, the white grub species with a biennial life cycle.

The award consisting of a citation and Rs two lakhs is to be given away to the scientists in the 87th Foundation Day Ceremony of ICAR to be held at Pat on July 25.

It may be mentioned  that the University this year could bag six other tiol awards including the most prestigious Sardar Patel Outstanding Institution Award.

All these awards have brought a sense of pride and fulfilment among the University community which strongly feels that the lion’s share for these recent accolades to AAU goes to the foresightedness and dymic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah.
