tiol Consumer Rights Day observed

Golaghat, Dec 24: A consumer awareness workshop on the theme ‘Altertive Dispute Resolution for Quick Redressal of Consumer Disputes’ was organized by the Food, Civil Supplies and  Consumer Affairs branch under the aegis of the dstrict administration, Golaghat, to mark the tiol Consumer Rights Day on Saturday in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here in Golaghat.  The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Gaurav Bothra. Deputy Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, HN Doley, secretary of Golaghat Bar Association, Durga Prasad Jaiswal, general secretary of United Chamber of Commerce, Dip Kalita, member of District Consumer Forum, Santa Saikia, senior academician Udayan McFarlin and representatives of various trade associations and consumer rights activists were present at the workshop.  The workshop dealt with various kinds of altertive dispute resolution mechanisms and consumer rights topics.  The Consumer Protection Act was ected on this day in 1986 with a view to provide better protection of consumers’ interests.
