DIBRUGARH, February 4: The tiol convention and cultural festival of Asom Chah Jagusthi Jaitya Mahasabha (ACJJM) that was slated to be held this month at OIL Bihutoli auditorium at Duliajan has been deferred to March.

The event, which is being organized by the Mahasabha with several organizations of tea tribe community, will now be held from March 27 to March 29. The president and general secretary of ACJJM, Teros Gowala and Lobin Karmakar respectively, stated this.

According to Gowala, the convention and cultural festival date had been deferred due to ensuing HSLC and HSSLC examitions in February, the killing of innocent people in BTAD area by NDFB(S) and a large number of the populace staying in relief camps for security. Both Gowala and Karmakar called upon the people of the community to send their write–ups relating to socio–cultural life of various ethnic clans of tea tribe community on or before February 10 for publication in the souvenir, which is to be published to mark the occasion.

The organizers also informed that a number of semirs and discussions on different issues will be held during convention.  An interactive session will be held among the representatives of students and youths, workers, cultural organization, MLA and MPs of the tea community.
