tiol Handloom Expo kicks off in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, December 15: The tiol Handloom Expo 2015-16 begins from Tuesday at Kokrajhar  JD road near FCI godown with a 20-day long programme.

Organized by the Bodoland Regiol Apex Weavers & Artisans Cooperative Federation Ltd (BRAWFED) in collaboration with the Development Commissioner, Handloom, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, under market promotion programme for handloom sponsored by the Government of India, the expo aim to facilitate and make local weavers aware through various programmes and also to facilitate the consumer to purchase genuine handloom fabrics woven by local artisans.

Former agriculture minister and present Kokrajhar (East) MLA Pramila Rani Brahma attended the programme as chief guest and iugurate the expo, in presence of other dignitaries including Assamese film actress Cheta Das, who is the brand ambassador of BRAWFED, chairman of BRAWFED Binode rzary and others.

Over 55 participants from Bodoland, Assam, Manipur and other States like Harya, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattishgarh, Punjab, Delhi and Bihar are participating in the expo with various hand-made products from the respective states.

Besides the regular stalls, a customer assistance centre is also set up for market survey and alysis of demands, needs and preference of buyers of Kokrajhar.

Musical nights, fashion show on Indian and Bodoland handloom woven fabric, semirs, workshops, quiz will be organized during the 20-day events.
