tiol highway blockade at Mahur

Haflong, September 26: In protest against the total failure and negligence of NKC Pvt. Ltd in maintaining the road of Mahur town, DSU, ZSU, AAGSU, KSO, HAS and Basic Society under the aegis of Diyung SGAU Youth Club Mahur (DSYC), called an indefinite road blockade at Mahur on Monday.

Annoyed local people of Mahur along with local NGOs Diyung Sgau Youth Club (DSYC), DSU, ZSU, AAGSU, KSO, HSA and Basic Society had been approaching the NKC, which is responsible for the construction of NH 54 E through Mahur, but it never paid any heed to their request, following which all these organization were compelled to call for an indefinite road blockade to register their grievances. Hundreds of angry protesters blocked the road holding placards.

However, following the assurance from the NKC authority, they called off their agitation temporarily but they disclosed that they would monitor the progress of the maintence works and also guide the NKC properly.

The NKC company engaged for the construction of NH 54 E has been gaining notoriety for its utter negligence towards the Mahur-Jatinga stretch which has become a cause of serious concern.
