SHILLONG, February 25: Meghalaya Secretary in charge Sports and Youth Affairs Fredrick R Kharkongngor today said that the role of the youth of the country is to make friendship and build bridges in connecting India.
Iugurating the five day State Level tiol Integration Camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in Shillong on Tuesday, Kharkongngor said: “Youth can play an important role to build bridges in connecting India by making friendships among Indians.”
The Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary also exhorted to the youths to come under one umbrella to understand, share and exchange their culture, traditions, ethnic values and to create the feelings of oneness brushing aside their caste, creed and religious differences for development of the country. Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal who attended the function as a guest of honour said, integrity in diversity is the intellectual development and cultural background of India. Goyal appealed to the delegates to understand each other and spread the message of unity and brotherhood. Another guest of honour, East Khasi Hills SP MH Kharkrang said, “It’s time for the youth of the country to identify the threats which poses from various force.” Kharkrang said, “Youths should maintain unity, Integrity and to respect each other identity,” adding he also appealed to the youth to avoid the path of violence. In the NIC programmes, there are around 200 delegates coming from Assam, Sikkim, galand, Aruchal Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi and host Meghalaya.
