tiol Press Day observed

Hojai , November 30: tiol Press Day was observed on Sunday in Hojai district. On the occasion a meeting was held at the PWD Inspection Bungalow  premises at tun Bazar in Hojai.

The programme stated with flag hoisting by Konkon Jyoti Saikia, Superintendent of Police of Hojai. Chathurtha Rani Biswas, chairman of Hojai Municipal Board lit the ceremonial lamp. Ajit Kumar Bhuiya, editor of Prag Channel was the chief guest.

Bhuiya in his speech said that media played a vital role in bringing positive change in society. “Media persons shoulder the responsibility of bringing to light the actual picture of what is happening around us,” he added.

Others present included senior jourlist Shyamol Roy, former president of Hojai Press Club, Niranjan Swaragi,  senior jourlist of Purvanchal Prahari, Jardhan Sharma of Asomiya Khabar, Bijay Chakraborty, social worker, Uttam Das, district president of BJP Hojai, Dr Sanou Sharma, retired doctor and Amar Chand Dey, former chairman of Hojai Municipal Board.
