tiol Safety Day observed at APL

mrup, March 4: Along with the rest of the country, the 46th tiol Safety Day was observed at Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) here on Saturday, aiming at bringing safety awareness among the employees with the theme ‘Keep Each Other Safe’.

The programme started with the wearing of safety badges, which was followed by the hoisting of ‘Safety Flag’ by DB Bhattacharya, GGM (plant) at 9:30 AM in front of the CO’s Emergency Assembly point in the presence of top officials and employees. Hoisting the flag, the GGM (plant) dwelt at length on the importance of safety at work places as well as in every walk of life, highlighting the significance of NSD.

A brief open session was held where ‘Safety pledge’ was administered by S. Borkotoky, DGM (TS). Several speakers including GS, APLOA, GS and organizing secretary, APWU, briefly spoke on the safety issues. In this brief session, prizes were given away to the winners of safety slogan and essay writing competitions held earlier. The celebration rounded off with fire-fighting demonstration at CO’s fire section. The entire programme was initiated by J. Buragohain, Safety Officer, APL.
