tiol Safety Day observed at mrup

mrup, March 4: Along with rest of the country, the 45th tiol Safety Day was observed at mrup by the industries located here today aiming at bringing safety awareness among the employees with the theme “Strengthening Safety Movement to Achieve zero Harm.”

At Assam Petro-chemicals Ltd (APL) here, the programme came into being with the wearing of safety badges which was followed by the hoisting of ‘Safety flag’ by DB Bhattacharyya, GGM (Plant) at 9:30 am in front of CO’s emergency assembly point in the presence of the top officials & employees. Hoisting the flag, the GGM (Plant), dwelt at length on the importance of safety at work places as well as in every walk of life, highlighting the importance of NSD which was followed by safety pledge administered by SU Zaman, DGM (MM).

The celebration rounded with the ‘Fire fighting demonstration’ at the CO’s fire section. The entire programme was initiated by J Buragohain, Safety Officer, APL.

The observation of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd (BVFCL) here started with the hoisting of ‘Safety flag’ by SABM Sultan, OSD, BVFCL inside the factory area. After that, an open session was held under the chairmanship of SABM Sultan. S Sarkar, chief engineer (Fire & Safety) delivered welcome address & administered the safety pledge among the assembled officials & employees. Several speakers elaborated on the safety issues at workplaces, highlighting the significance of the observance of tiol Safety Day.

In the session, prizes were given away to the winners of drawing & essay writing competition held among the students & employees separately to mark the occasion. The open session rounded off with the vote of thanks offered by PK Saikia, Safety Officer, BVFCL.
