GUWAHATI, January 13: To commemorate the path–breaking discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman, the tiol Science Day has been being observed in India on February 28 since 1988. This year the country will celebrate this day with the focal theme “Science for tion Building”.

The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Assam State Centre and The Assam Science & Technology University, Guwahati will jointly organize this event on February 28, 2015 in the WI Panbazar premises.

A galaxy of renowned science and technology experts would participate in the open day celebration to be attended by the engineering students of this region, besides corporate members and university Officials. An essay competition on the theme “Science for tion Building” is being organized for the students of all engineering colleges of the state where prizes worth Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 would be awarded to the best three entries.

A number of popular talks, short films on innovation in science and technology and interactive session have been scheduled for the celebration.
