tiol Science Day Observed

mrup, March 3: Commemorating the day of discovery of the Roman effect by the greatest Indian physicist & Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman, tiol Science Day was observed at mrup College with great enthusiasm on February 28

The day long programme started with the lightning of ceremonial earthen lamp in front of the portrait of Sir C.V. Raman by S.K. Seal Vice Principal of mrup College, Prof Ashim Jyoti Baruh, secretary, SCDC, delivered the welcome address and it was followed by a sonorous Borgeet presented by Swarli Gogoi. To mark the occasion, a lively quiz competition was also organized among the students of 09 different schools of mrup and its adjoining areas. The said competition was conducted by Prof. Rupak Borgohain, HOD of sociology, Jayanta Sonowal Asst. Prof, Deptt of Botany & Abhijit Baruah faculty Bio-tech , Hub of the college of the participated teams , the BVFCL Model H.S. School teams won 2nd & 3rd position respectively.

The quiz competition was followed by lively talk on the topic “Science & Technology for specially abled person  & the Role of Society towards them” which was delivered by  Dr. Ranja Bora Bordoloi, Asociate Professor, Deptt. Of Physics, mrup College. The main attraction of the programme was the video-clip on Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee to climb the Mount –Everest, presented by Prof Hijam Homendra Singh, HOD, Deptt of Zoology, NRP college which was followed by the prize distribution ceremony under the conduction of Ashifa Sobhan, HOD & Associate Professor, Deptt of English. The daylong programme ended with the vote of thanks offered by Prof Indira Baruah President,SCDC, mrup College.
