tiol semir held

DIGBOI Sept 18: A tiol level semir on ‘Indigenous Food and different communities of North-East India was held here at the auditorium of  Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalay  recently in Tinsukia District of Upper Assam. The semir which indeed generated significant response was organized by the Department of Home Science of the said college in collaboration with Ray Foundation (a volunteer organization)  being sponsored by University grant Commission.

The knowledge based episode which was iugurated by Bikram Koire, the Sub Divisiol Officer Margherita amidst significant learned dignitaries was attended by more than one hundred and twenty participants from various walks of lives belonging to different locations.

Following the welcome address accorded by the corditor of the said programme Dr. Sangita Chetia, the head of the department of Home Science, various resource persons who were  8 in number belonging to different universities of India enriched the gathering with their acquired knowledge, data and statistics quite in relevance to the topic. Prof. Rumamoni Bhattacharjee of Department of Food Science and nutrition, College of Community Science Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat had earlier delivered the keynote address wherein she adequately introduced the topic to the house. The entire session was also marked by exchange of ideas and opinions among the participants mostly the student communities who had enthusiastically taken part in the interactive session.
