tiol semir on biodiversity & wildlife conservation in Digboi

Dibrugarh, March 7: A UGC sponsored two-day tiol semir on ‘Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation Biology’ (BWCB-2018) was held at Digboi College recently. The semir was organized by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with Aaranyak, an organization of scientific and industrial research, Guwahati. Altogether 45 research papers with various sub-themes were presented by many research scholars and faculty members of the various States of India.

The meeting started by lighting the lamp by various invited renowned persolities followed by a welcome borgeet sung by Jyotishman Moran, a student of the Zoology Department. Principal of the college, Dr. Dip Saikia, delivered his welcome address while convener of the tiol semir, Rajib Rudra Tariang dwelt at length about the purpose for holding of such semir.

There were five technical sessions and in each session, various keynote speakers delivered their eminent talk. According to press communiqué issued here by the semir convenor, Rajiv Rudra Tariang, invited guest Prof. SP Biswas, Department of Life Sciences of Dibrugarh University (DU) delivered his speech on ‘Aquatic Fau of the Brahmaputra basin’ and chaired two technical sessions.
