tiol Unity Day observed

SHILLONG, Oct 31: East Khasi Hills district administration, in association with the District Sports Office and Superintendent of Police (SP), organised a series of programmes as part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (tiol Unity Day) and Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas (tiol Re-Dedication Day) celebrations on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad flagged off a “Run for Unity” organised as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration at Madan Iewrynghep here.  

East Khasi Hills SP Davis NR Marak also flagged off a car and bike rally from State Central Library premises on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar administered the Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas pledge to all the participants at the venue.

Speaking to reporters before the event, Marak informed the gathering the cars and bike rally was being organised in association with certain NGOs, biker groups, adventure sports groups etc.

He further stated that a street play was organized at Police Bazar as part of the programme.
