tiol workshop on academic audit held

KALIABOR, October 16: A tiol workshop on Academic Audit-Principles and Practices, organized by Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with the Cotton College State University, was held from October 14 to October 15 at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Guwahati.

After the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and welcome chorus by the students of ADBU, welcome address was presented by Father (Dr.) Stephen Mavely, Vice-Chancellor of ADBU. Dr. Monmayuri Baruah of ADBU, convener of the workshop, spoke a few words of introduction on the workshop theme.

In his iugural address Prof. A.N. Rai, former Director of AC (tiol Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore) praised the ADBU for its achievement though it was only eight years old. Dr. Bijumoni Das of ADBU offered vote of thanks at the end of the iugural session.

In the five technical sessions of the workshop, resource persons were Prof. K.G. Bhattacharya of Gauhati University, Prof. Marion Mathew CJ of SHIATS University, Prof. KV garaj of Mizoram University, Prof. K.N. Bhatt of Allahabad Central University and Prof. A.C. Bhagabati, former VC of Rajib Gandhi University. Though with some inhibitions, all the experts emphasized the importance of academic audit for better performance of a higher education institute. Academic audit once in three years before the AC peer team visit and assessment is beneficial to the HEIs. Technical sessions were followed by a panel discussion where important issues and problems of higher education came up. Participants expressed their satisfaction over the enriching experience and knowledge they procured from the workshop and thanked the organizers.

The AC-sponsored workshop was attended by a host of delegates coming from across the country. Dr. Nripen Chandra Das, IQAC Coorditor of Kaliabor College also attended the workshop and participated in all the deliberations.
