Tirobhava Tithi of Badalaa Padma Ataa observed

From a Correspondent

KALIABOR, Sept 12: Tirobhava Tithi of Badalaa Padma Ataa was observed at all the amghars of Sorigaon in Kaliabor with day-long m-prasanga on Monday.  People from all walks of life participated in the m-prasanga of the amghars.

People of Sorigaon observe this tithi as one of their biggest festivals.  They are the followers of Padma Ataa who initiated the people into the Neovaishvite religion propounded by Srimanta Sankardeva. Padma Ataa of rayanpur, the disciple of Mahapurusha Madhavdeva, had established 30 xatras. As far as this tithi is concerned, people of Sorigaon follow the religious ceremonies of Majuli’s Kamalabari Xatra established by Badalaa Ataa. Every year one bhao is held at one amghar of the village on the occasion of the tithi. This year also Shyamanta-Hara bhao was held in the evening.
