MORIGAON, Oct 16: Central committee members of All Tiwa Students’ Union  (ATSU), Sonjukta Ga Moncha (SGM), All Tiwa Protection Committee (ATPC), Morigaon District Tribal Sangha (MDTS), Tiwa Jatiya Eaikya Moncha (TJEM), Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad (TYCP), Tiwa Mathanlai Takhra (TMT), All Tiwa Woman Society (ATWS), Autonomous Demand Revolution Committee (ADRC) and Tiwa Cultural  Society (TCS) on Monday came down heavily on the BJP-led State Government for passing the State Capital Region Development Authority Act-2017 and  taking steps for implementing the Act in Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) and tribal belt areas.
The organizations took out a protest rally. The leaders of the organizations said that the Act would destroy the tribal belt of Kamrup (south), Plahguri, Tetelia, Ghaguwa and the tribal belts of Guva. They also said the capital extension scheme has included the villages under Mayong and Morigaon circles. Under the scheme, total 286 villages have been included under TAC. As the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) is not included under the Sixth Schedule, the capital extension act would destroy these villages.
An open meeting was held at Bihutoli where the leaders appealed to the State Government to desist from implementing the Authority Act, 2017 in TAC and tribal belt areas or they would be compelled to launch a stir.
