Tiwa bodies unhappy with budget

MORIGAON, Feb 8:  The All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU), Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad (TYCP) and All Tiwa Protection Committee (ATPC) and alliance organizations have expressed displeasure over the budget which was tabled in the Assembly on Tuesday by the State Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.  Reacting to the budget, Dipen Mosrong, president, ATSU, Dharma Singh  Bordoloi, president, ATSU, Cheniram Malang, general secretary, ATSU, Ratneswar Deuri, secretary, TYCP, Anil Mafgong, president, ATPC and Sejoy Deuri, general secretary, ATPC said that the  budget was incomplete and needed rectification. In a statement, the organizations said that the only Rs 36 crore had been fixed for the year 2017-18 for the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) and added that all-round development was not possible with minimum fincial assistance for the Tiwa community. They also said that the Tiwa Autonomous Council needed nearly Rs 100 crore as fincial assistance for all-round development every year but the government had fixed only Rs 36 crore for the TAC in the budget. They also appealed to the government to release the allotted fund for the year-2016-17 which had not been released till date.
