Tiwa rebels bbed at Jagiroad

JAGIROAD, May 30: Two militants belonging to newly-formed Tiwa Liberation Army (TLA) were arrested from Amsoi area here in Morigaon district by Nellie police on Friday night. The two militants had returned to the area three days ago after completing arms training at Dimapur in galand, a police official said. On May 25, five militants of the outfit, active in Morigaon district bordering Meghalaya, were arrested from Kumarkuchi in neighboring Karbi Anglong district and Rs 70,000 were recovered from them. Police said on the basis of their information two rebels—Monoranjan Patar of Amsoi under Raha police station and Suren Patar from Aminghat under Jagiroad police station—were arrested.  The outfit has been formed about three months ago and during the last two months it has issued extortion notes to businessmen and civil servants posted in the area, Morigaon District Superintendent of Police Ainul Haque said.
