To fight JE, Health department takes help of Abas fish

Joysagar, June 7: Japanese Encephalitis is a serious health concern for the people of Assam. Sivasagar district has recorded a total of about 385 cases of JE and four of them died. To prevent the spread of the disease, Sivasagar district Health Department has come forward with a special kind of fish spices known as abas fish. This fish species has a special quality of preventing the eggs of mosquitoes which spread the Japanese Encephalitis virus. Top officials of Sivasagar district Health Department have been spreading the fish species in various drains and ponds of Sivasagar town.
