Tocklai Tea Research Institute faces crisis

JORHAT, April 25: The pioneer tea research institute in the world, Tocklai Tea Research Institute with its parent organization Tocklai Tea Research Association, is facing acute fincial crisis as the scientists, research scholars and employees were exempted from other benefits apart from their only take-home salary, which was discussed at a coorditing committee meeting held under president ship of Dr. Pradip Tamuly at Tocklai conference hall here at the Jorhat campus on Tuesday. A total of 249 employees and officials from this pioneer tea research institute of the world is facing hardship as the authority of Tocklai Tea Research Association, which is under the Tea Board of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has failed to regularize and deposit provident fund and income tax, group saving link insurance and medical insurance to the respective departments after deducting the required amount from the employees and the officers, for which the employees’ union and officers’  association had to call for an emergency coorditing committee meeting recently , informed Dr. Shymal Prasad Baruah, the secretary of Tocklai Tea Research Institute Officers’ Association on Tuesday.
