Togo's incumbent President Faure Gssingbe re-elected

Lome, April 29: Togo’s incumbent President Faure Essozim Gssingbe has been re-elected for another five years in office, prelimiry results released on Tuesday showed. Electoral Commission (CENI), ruling Union for the Republic party candidate Gssingbe won 58.75 percent of the votes, while opposition Combat for Political Altertive in 2015 (CAP2015) alliance candidate Jean-Pierre Fabre won 34.95 percent, Xinhua news agency reported.

“The tiol electoral commission states that Gssingbe has been elected based on provisiol results which are subject to confirmation by the constitutiol court,” the commission’s head Taffa Tabiou said. (IANS)
