However, Jongkey denies the charges against him, claiming his innocence.
According to police, Jongkey has been evading arrest ever since a FIR against him was registered. He had reportedly moved bail petitions at Yupia Session Court and also at Gauhati High Court which, was transferred to the Itagar permanent bench of the Gauhati High Court for disposal. However, considering serious ture of the crime, the high court reportedly quashed Jonkey’s bail plea.
After playing a hide and seek game for a week, Jonkey got himself admitted at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRHIMS) at harlagun citing health related issues in a dramatic way yesterday afternoon which facilitated his arrest by police. Capital SP Dr A Koan informed that the absconding accused surrendered before the police at the hospital. The SP said that police would move the court for constitution of a medical team to examine whether the accused was really ill or trying to create a scene by taking the plea of some health problems to evade law.
