Topper in Assam Civil Services examition felicitated

Silchar, July 14: An interactive session with A. Minerva Devi, who secured the 4th position in the Assam Civil Services (ACS) examition this year, was organized by career guidance cell of Gurucharan College, Silchar at the premises of the college, today. The interactive cum felicitation programme saw the presence of a number of Degree students who are aspiring to appear for Civil Service examitions. The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Bibhash Deb, principal, Ashesh Bhattacharjee vice-principal, Dr. Dipankar Kar, head, Department of English and coorditor of Interl Quality Assurance Cell and Chandan Paul Choudhury, coorditor Continuing Professiol Education (CPE) Program of Gurucharan College.

 A. Minerva Devi, a resident of Soi Road of this town has secured the 4th position in the ACS examition, said, “My father is a top ranking civil servant and mother teaches in Radhamadhab College. They have inspired me a lot.” Expressing a myriad of emotions, she continued, “I am overwhelmed, emotiol and nostalgic at the same time. I was a student of this college and I remember those days when I used to sit on the back benches just like everyone wants to.” On an advisory note she said that students should read two or more newspapers religiously. This would help them in remaining updated about current affairs, sports, entertainment.

Answering to a host of similar questions regarding the preparation of ACS examition, she said, “Read newspapers, download the syllabus and start preparing from today itself. It is high time for the students who are appearing for their fil semester examition. ACS examition is very easy if one knows the secret of preparing. I deactivated all social networking sites and kept myself aloof from WhatsApp, Facebook and the like.” A Minerva Devi prepared whole-heartedly for one and a half years and took a keen interest in appearing in the examition.

“You should have the passion to work hard. Do not appear just for the sake of appearance. Follow your heart. Consult your teachers and think positive”, said Minerva Devi, addressing the students in the interactive session.

Dr. Dipankar Kar said, “The career guidance cell of this college has been doing an excellent job over the years. It is heart-warming to note that some students are thinking out of the box and are not opting for the beaten track of pursuing general master degree programmes.”

 Dr. Bibhash Deb referring to some of the outstanding achievers of this College pointed out, “This College has the tradition of producing some bright and brilliant achievers. Two years back, we arranged a similar programme in which Vikram Koiri, an IAS topper was felicitated. Some more students have got placements in Jadavpur University and various other Indian Institutes of Technology as well as higher centres of education”.

Earlier, A Minerva Devi was felicitated along with other dignitaries present. She was handed over a citation by the principal of the college, Dr. Bibhash Deb. Among others who spoke on the programme included of Dr. Bibhash Deb, principal, Ashesh Bhattacharjee, Dr. Dipankar Kar, and Chandan Paul Choudhury.
