Torchlight procession by AASU in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA, March 7: Under the aegis of Doomdooma Regiol Students’ Union, a torch-light procession was taken out along the main streets of Doomdooma in the afternoon on Tuesday to protest against ransacking of AASU office at Silapathar in Dhemaji district on Monday.

Besides AASU, more than 300 activists belonging to Yuba Chatra Parishad, Moran Students’ Union, Chutia Students’ Union, Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA), Sonowal-Kachari Students’ Union and Mising Students’ Union participated in the procession and shouted slogans.

 Later a protest meeting was convened which was addressed by Ra Sor, sports secretary, AASU, Tinsukia District Committee, Rantu Neog of All Tinsukia District Chutia Students’ Union, among others. The meeting was also attended by Surajit Moran, former president of AJYCP, Tinsukia District Committee, Chinmoy Bora, former president, Chutia Students’ Union, Uttam Barua and Mantu Buragohain, president and secretary respectively of  Doomdooma Regiol Students’ Union, Tamal Gupta of AJYCP, Joykanta Moran of Moran Students’ Union and Deb Tanti of ATTSA.
