Torchlight rally held to demand ST status for Sarania Kacharis

TANGLA, September 4: Reiterating various long pending issues including grant of ST status, the activists of All Assam Sarania Kachari Students’ Union (AASKSU), Sarania Kachari Sanmilani Assam, Sarania Kachari Sanmilani Demand Committee and Assam Sarania Kachari Democratic Women’s Forum took out a torchlight rally throughout the town beginning from Tangla HS field. The torchlight rally was held under the aegis of Tangla Anchalik committee of AASKSU. The activists shouted slogans like ‘No ST, no rest’, ‘We want justice’ and “No political conspiracy against the Sarania Kachari will be tolerated’, said Tarun Das, general secretary of AASKSU central committee.
