Torrential rain damages vast areas of paddy field

Silchar, May 1: Torrential rains and cyclones have been wreaking havoc in the areas of Kaptanpur GP, Chotamanda, Binkandie and other areas which fall under Binkandie development block. Around 5200 bighas of paddy field which were sown in the months of December 2016 and January 2017 have been destroyed completed. The paddy field is submerged under water and farmers are uble to comprehend and control the situation.

 Thombi Singh, SDO, Lakhipur Agricultural Officer, gram sevak Satyajit Deb, Keshab Acharjee and Motilal Goala made a field visit to these areas recently. Thombi Singh reported about the losses incurred and damages done to Zakir Hussain, district agriculture officer, who is a resident of Ghaniala.
