Tough challenge for Mohilary to choose Baganpara candidate

From our Correspondent

LBARI, March 14: BPF president Hagrama Mohilary has not yet announced the candidate for the Baganpara seat for the forthcoming BTC polls. For the party high command, it will be a tough choice between the two ticket aspirants Bamali Baro and Chatan Basumatary.

Bamali Baro , the president of Musalpur district BPF as well as the executive member of BTC, is facing a challenge from  Chatan Basumatary, a popular social worker of Baganpara who has a huge number of supporters. Basumatary has been urging Mohilary to choose him as the BPF candidate.

A large number of supporters of Basumatary even observed a sit-in recently during the BPF high power committee meeting near Barama in support of their demand for party ticket to Basumatary.

Clearly, pressure is mounting of the BPF high command to choose Basumatary as the candidate for Baganpara with many BPF members even threatening to quit the party if Basumatary is denied the party ticket.
