Tourism Day  to focus on Eastern Aruchal

Itagar, Sept 5: The Aruchal Pradesh Tour Operators’ Association (APTOA) has proposed to celebrate this year’s World Tourism Day at msai, with a view to promote the tourism potential of Eastern Aruchal.

Aruchal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chow Mein on Monday convened a meeting of district administration, heads of departments, officials from Directorate of Tourism and representatives of Aruchal Pradesh Tour Operators’ Association (APTOA) in connection with the celebration of World Tourism Day at msai on September 27.

Stressing the importance of tourism sector for a developing State like Aruchal, Mein said that the tourism potential of the eastern part of the State has not been tapped to its potential. “There is an urgent need to promote the god-gifted tourism opportunity of the eastern parts of Aruchal Pradesh along with the rest of the State,” he added.

He sought a grand celebration of World Tourism Day this year involving all the districts of Eastern Aruchal and suggested that its next edition should be held in one of the districts of Western Aruchal.

“The events should generate significant interests and awareness amongst youth, SHGs, PRI leaders and legislators about tourism,” he said.

World Tourism Day Celebration will be jointly organised by the Department of Tourism and APTOA and supported by the msai district administration.

The event will consist of photography contest, culiry (traditiol food) contest, and cycling competition from Golden Pagoda to msai, panel discussions on how to preserve cultural heritage and wildlife conservation and promotion of Aruchal Pradesh. The topics for panel discussion include ‘Accessibility: A Major Challenge in Aruchal Pradesh’ and ‘ASEAN Relation and Act East Policy’.

There will also be workshops on topics such as Rural Tourism: Suitable and Eco-based Tourism, Wildlife Tourism: Conservation and Tourism, Homestay: Sustaible and Tourist-friendly, and Adventure Tourism. Besides, there will be a cleanliness drive in msai.
