Town Committees employees demand release of pending salary

DIPHU, Sept 23: The employees of Hamren  and Dongkamokam Town Committees  submitted a  memorandum  to  So Terang , OSD,  demanding  payment of their monthly  salary pending for the last  47 months and  56 months  respectively  in West  Karbi Anglong. The memorandum, signed by  Harsing Timung, Mon Kramsa, Longbir Kronihang and others , stated that due to non-payment  of salary to the employees since last 47 months and 65 months,  the families of these employees  had left all hopes for a better future and many families were on the verge of starvation. The sigtories of the memorandum demanded that the pending salary must be paid by September 30. They also demanded immediate release of grant-in-aid and also to release the fund as per budget provision as Town Development fund. They also warned that if their demands were not met, they would not discharge their duties in the ensuing  town committee elections,  rather they would launch a cease work programme.
