Town Hall meeting on MSME held

SHILLONG, Nov 28: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Industries (DC&I), Government of Meghalaya conducted a Town Hall meeting on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Shillong Polytechnic, Mawlai, East Khasi Hills District today. It was attended by officials from SIDBI, BARD, KVIC, KVIB, public and private sector banks and DCIC, East Khasi Hills besides entrepreneurs from different parts of the district.
Anurag Astha, GM (OIC), RBI Shillong, in his keynote addressed highlighted the various measures taken by RBI to facilitate the growth of MSMEs in the country. IZ Wreang, Assistant Director, DC&I, Government of Meghalaya addressed the participants on behalf of the Department and exhorted the existing as well as to be entrepreneurs of the state. The presentations from RBI, SIDBI and SBI focused on the ebling policy measures, government initiatives as well as the available MSME products in the banks.
Three entrepreneurs mely Aiti Jyrwa, Christine Kharwanlang and Manbha Susngi who were sponsored by DCIC, East Khasi Hills, shared their success stories to motivate the budding entrepreneurs who were present. Loan sanction letters were also handed over to a few entrepreneurs. During the open panel discussion, participants raised their doubts in connection with the credit provided by bank, rate of interest charged in case of sponsored schemes, various schemes available in the banks and other Government agencies etc. which were clarified by the officials concerned.
