AGARTALA, Jan 1: Amid speculation over an alliance with CPI (M) following the discussions in the left party’s plenum in Kolkata, the Tripura Pradesh Congress President Birajit Sinha has ruled out any such possibility in the Northeastern state. ‘An alliance with CPI (M) is impossible in Tripura’, he said on Friday.

Addressing a party workers meeting at Ambassa in Dhalai district he said over media report on CPI (M) plenum many people are asking what will be the Congress stand in Tripura. I want to make it clear that there is no such possibility in Tripura and we have already conveyed our decision to the party high command.

He came down heavily against the Left Front government in Tripura and said in their regime the common people specially the non-left political workers are the worst sufferer. They created an economic blocked against the Congress supporters and many of them were even murdered. The Congress workers are fighting a brave fight against the CPI (M) and will never accept any alliance with them.

The meeting was organised as part of the party’s preparation for the forthcoming village committee elections expected to be held in February next. He said the Congress has decided to contest the election alone and urged the workers to reach out the voters with the message that the Congress is the only party in the country who can protect the interest of the Tribal.
