Tractors at subsidized rates distributed to farmers

JORHAT, Nov 2: “Assam will soon witness a green revolution with the help of the subsidized tractors which the Sarbanda Sonowal government distributed  at several places throughout the State under the Chief Minister Hamagro Graymo Unyan Yoja-2017. I feel very proud to hand over the keys of the tractors to the farmers,” said Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, the MP of Jorhat, who was the chief guest at the function organized by the District Agricultural Department at Kachari Maidan in Jorhat on Thursday.

Tasa called upon the farmers to make right use of the tractors for farming purposes so that the State becomes self-sufficient. He said it was a great initiative by Prime Minister rendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal to bring another green revolution which would change the economic scerio of the State and the country.

“A total of 55 registered farmers’ groups between 8 to 10 from 554 revenue villages of five LACs were handed over tractors at 70 per cent subsidy rate, 20 per cent bank fince and 10 per cent from the farmer’s share,” said Dipak Sarma, the District Agricultural Officer at a jam-packed meeting at Kachari Maidan. Bhaben Bharali, the MLA of Dergaon and Renupoma Rajkhowa, MLA of Teok, lauded the initiative of the Sarbanda Sonowal government. “This system is transparent and farmers who had applied were benefitted directly and there were no middlemen,” said Bhaben Bharali, the MLA of Dergaon.
