Trade unions to stage protest in Jantar Mantar

Bongaigaon, Oct 21: The joint platform of all trade unions of Bongaigaon and Chirang district  staged a protest meeting on Saturday in Bongaigaon Railway Institute in support of several demands.
Ashish Biswas, Assam State Secretary of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, said that several trade unions, including NFRMU, NFREU, INTUC, AITUC, CITU, AIUTUC, HMS and AICCTU had taken part in this meeting. “On November 9, November 10 and November 11, all trade unions will stage demonstration in Jantar-Mantar of Delhi for several demands like controlling price hike, creating employment opportunities, implementing labour act, giving social security to labour class people, fixing minimum salary of Rs 18,000 for all type of labour, stopping foreign direct investment in railway, defense and insurance sector, permanent solution of flood and erosion problem of Assam. We have noticed that this government is depriving the labour class people and hence we have been compelled to adopt the path of agitation.”
Several noted persons, including Ashish Biswas, Assam State Secretary of HMS, Ashit Dutta, State secretary, CITU, Ramani Barman, president of N F Railway Mazdoor Union, Chusen Hazarike, AGS, NFRMU, Hareswar Das, Bongaigaon district secretary, CITU,  and many others were present in this meeting. A resolution had been taken in this meeting that along with staging demonstration in Delhi, a demonstration in front of the DC office, Bongaigaon and DC office Chirang will also be staged on November 10.
