Trader Shiu Karan Khaitan dies

Tinsukia, April 28: Shiu Karan Khaitan, a leading citizen, educationist and businessman of Tinsukia passed away at his Rangogora Road residence in Tinsukia on Wednesday due to cardiac failure. He was 79.

A founder teacher in the Commerce department of Tinsukia College, Khaitan was founder secretary of Tinsukia Commerce College and Tinsukia Law College, member of GB Tinsukia College, president of GB Tinsukia English Academy, president of Mab Kalyan Trust and vice-chairman of Tinsukia Municipal Board. Besides he was president of the tiol Chamber of Commerce for long 18 years. Several educatiol institutions and organizations have condoled the death of Khaitan. He is survived by a son and three daughters while his wife had predeceased him few years back.
