GUWAHATI, Feb 5: Six to seven models of traditiol huts and household materials representing the way of living of the Boro, Desi Jagosthi, Tiwa, Karbi and Sonowal Kachari community people were set on display at the Rongali Festival as part of the ‘Bor Axom’ theme, grabbing attention of the young.  Rongali Festival, which is said to be the biggest musical festival of the Northeast, is under way at the Veteriry College ground, Khapara. “The hay used has been brought from Boko and the bamboo used is Bholuka bah. We got very less time to set it up. Such kind of display will make people, especially the young, aware of the traditiol way of living of the tribes. RCC buildings have replaced every unique housing structure that Assam earlier had,” general mager of SKAC, Bhakti Prasad Sonowal said.  Nohdima, the Dimasa traditiol hut, grabbed the attention of people. The beautiful model of the hut has been crafted with Muli bah and Jati Bah, and hay measuring up to 6 feet-7 feet has been used to make the roof. The design of one side of the bamboo wall is different from the designs of the other sides. Muli Bah is said to resist extreme weather conditions for over 50 years.
