Traditiol Medicine Commission reconstituted

SHILLONG, March 3:  KHADC EM in charge Labour, Banteidor Lyngdoh on Thursday reconstituted the Khasi Traditiol Medicine Commission (KTMC).

“On expiry of the tenure of the KTMC constituted on March 14, 2012, the Executive Committee as required under Section 3 of the KHADC (Protection and Promotion of the Khasi Traditiol Medicine) Act, 2011 is pleased to reconstitute the aforesaid Commission,” Lyngdoh said on the floor of the House on the concluding day of the KHADC budget session here on Thursday.

He informed that committee will be headed by himself as Chairman while KHADC Joint Secretary RS Wanniang will be the secretary.

The other members of the committee are Dr Donne Kharumnuid, Dr Alka Kharsati, Dr Boss Myrtong, Dr Dlas Rani, Dr Glen Kharkongor, Dr Balan Basaiawmoit, Dr AK Nongkynrih, Erwin K Syiem Sutnga, Kitboklang Nongphlang and Augustar Jyrwa.

Questioning the reconstitution of the KTMC, MDC Tainwell Dkhar said, “I have not heard about any activity or programme conducted by this Commission since its inception in 2012.”

He however urged that the Commission to put  extra efforts this time to serve the people better.

Meanwhile, stressing on the need to reconstitute the Commission, Lyngdoh said, “With this Commission we will be able to distribute licence to the doctors of the state.”
