Traditiol value should be preserved: BTC deputy chief

KOKRAJHAR, April 22: The Deputy Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Kampa Borgoyary today called upon the people to preserve the traditiol value in the society and said a society cannot survive if its own culture and tradition is not conserved.

Borgoyary while iugurating the competition of ‘16th Rongjali Bwisagu Fwrbw’ held at Kokrajhar Music and Fine Arts College on Friday said the Bodos had own traditiol instruments which nowadays are not seen being used properly. He said the use of traditiol instruments were utmost important. He also said some of the instruments of the Bodos are being used by others.

Borgoyary said the Bihu had been modified to celebrate it in the stage. The Bwisagu of the Bodos is still observed in the open field, he said adding that the Bodos should modify the Bwisagu to celebrate in the stage at par with other societies. He also said the male participation in the Bwsagu dance should be equal with women folk.

The 16th Rongjali Bwisagu Fwrbw, organized by Kokrajhar Rongjali Bwisagu observance committee and Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma memorial Bwisagu observance committee is held at Kokrajhar Music and fine Art College, Habrubari in Kokrajhar. There are competitions of “Bwisagu Khungri” which carries citation, golden crown worth value of Rs. 1 lakh and cash Rs. 10,000 while the Bwisagu group dance would also be awarded.

Earlier, the president of the observance committee Bhajath rzary hoisted the flag while the president of the reception committee Sarbeswar Basumatary paid homage to late Bineswar Brahma. A sport art competition for school children was also organized which was iugurated by the president of Kokrajhar district committee ABSU Premjit rzary. The poem recitation programme was iugurated by the secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Rajendra th Brahma.
