Traffic congestion gives hard time to Shillongites

SHILLONG, Aug 6: Shillong witnessed heavy traffic congestion on Thursday afternoon. Reports of congestion have been received from different parts of the city as thousands of people marched towards the Main Secretariat Building after the public meeting called by the HSPDP at Malki ground, Shillong concluded which has affecting free-flow of vehicular movement. Congestion has been reported in important junctions like Civil, IGP, Barik, Rhino, Rilbong Point, Dhankheti, Fire Brigade, Laitumkhrah, Police Bazar (PB), Kachari to me a few which are major thoroughfares for the public are found jammed with vehicles. Thousands of vehicles were seen stranded for hours causing commuters to miss their important appointment or did not reach their destition in time because they were held up in traffic jam. The traffic police were also seen diverting vehicles to take different roots in order to try and ease the congestion.
