Traffic restriction for heavy vehicles in Silchar town

SILCHAR, Sept 21: ‘Vehicular traffic and congested road of the town has made life miserable for drivers, riders, rickshaw pullers and commuters. In this regard, S Viswathan, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, has issued an order to prohibit the entry of heavy vehicles like truck, tripper, dumper and 409 within Silchar municipal area from 8 am to 10 pm. The DC perused the report submitted by the District Transport Officer, Cachar regarding traffic congestion created due to the entry of trucks during daytime in the Silchar town area. Moreover, parents and guardians have also complained about the threat to their children while connection to and from school or college.

According to the resolution number 10, adopted in the Traffic Advisory Committee meeting held on February 11, 2016, the entry of heavy vehicles like truck, tripper and dumper within the municipal area from 12 noon to 3pm was strictly restricted. In order to solve the problem, the DC has issued the new order. A copy of the order has been sent to the Chairman, Silchar Municipal Board, the Superintendent of Police, and the District Transport Officer of Cachar along with the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relation, Barak Valley region, in-charge Traffic Branch and the Deputy Commissioner’s Bungalow office, of Silchar.
