Trafficking of minor girl: Police to take action

SHILLONG, Dec 28: The city police on Wednesday assured that action would be taken as per the law against all individuals who were somehow involved in the trafficking of a minor girl who was rescued from Marvelene Inn.

It may be mentioned that so far five people including a client, hotel staff and three pimps have been arrested in this connection so far.

Based on the statement of the victim, the State Commission has filed several FIRs in this connection and even Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang has been med in one of the FIRs though he has denied the allegations terming it as political vendetta.

Police officials on Wednesday said that police is building up evidences against the MLA and if law will take its own course if all the allegations are found to be true during the course of the investigation.

Senior police officials said that it is a heinous crime and police would take action as per the law of the land.

It may be mentioned that police on December 27 had arrested one more woman identified as Mo Lisa Shangpliang (22) for her involvement in the trafficking case that involves the mes of some of the local bigwigs.

Earlier, the police had arrested an employee of Marvelene’s Inn, two pimps, Mamuni Parveen and Tarisha Mary Kharbamon, and 22-year-old Madan Bahadur Thapa of Jhalupara.

According to the FIR filed by the victim on December 16, she also mentioned a guest house in Motigar where she was taken to an MLA.

Meanwhile, in this connection when contacted the owner of the guest house at Motigar she was unwilling to comment however asked to seek information from the police regarding the case.
