Train runs over two persons in Jorhat, one dies on spot

Jorhat, May 9: One person was killed and another injured critically on a railway track at Rajabari area on the outskirts of Jorhat town when a train ran over them on Monday. The deceased was identified as Dulal Baruah (34) and injured as Biswajit Neog (28) of mdeuri area under Pulibor police station in the district. The injured person is under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) and his condition is stated to be critical. Officer In-charge of Jorhat police station, Kamal Rajbanshi said, “The incident took place at around 9 am near Jorhat DTO office at Rajabari area. Dulal died on the spot while another sustained grievous injuries when a speeding train knocked them down on the train line.” JMCH Superintendent Rajiv Bhattacharyya said, “Doctors conducted post mortem of the deceased and the injured is undergoing treatment in the ICU. The condition of the injured person is critical.”
