Train stoppage at Dhalaibil within a month

TEZPUR, Oct 24: Assuring the protesters coming out on the streets from across the Jamugurihat area, a top NF Railway officer said that arrangement would be made for a stoppage of Murkongselek-Guwahati Intercity Passenger train at Dhalaibil station within a month. Recently, a large group of locals had called a rail blockade to put pressure on concerned department demanding a train stoppage here. It is worth mentioning here that under the aegis of the North Jamuguri anchalik unit of CPI (M), the people of more than 30 villages of the area had demanded the stoppage of the train at Dhalaibil. With the assurance, the people heaved a sigh of relief as they won’t have to travel either to Biswath Chariali or to Rangapara north, a distance of 30-50 km respectively to board the train. The CPI (M) secretary of North Jamuguri anchalik unit, Lila Bhuyan, said, “If the assurance does not materialise, we will resort to a more aggressive phase of agitation in the future.
