Trainee teachers cry foul over NIOS results

Shillong, Sept 14: More than 4000 trainees teachers who appeared for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) batch 2013 exams, conducted by the tiol Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for Meghalaya has expressed strong disappointment of the result declared by the NIOS on September 9, on grounds of various anomalies in the result. The teachers also met the Assistant director of regiol centre of NIOS at Guwahati, Piyush Prasad who according to them had admitted that there are various anomalies in the result declared by the NIOS and assured the teachers that this matter will be resolve within 10 days. Addressing Media on Wednesday one of the trainees Genesis Kam representing the 4000 teachers said, “The Assistant director of regiol centre of NIOS at Guwahati, Piyush Prasad also had clarified that most of the trainee’s interl assessment marks was not reflected in the marks card in the website of the NIOS. It is because, out of the 82 study centres in Meghalaya, some of the study centers had lately submitted the interl marks of the candidates and some have submitted directly to the head office of the NIOS at Noida (UP) instead of submitting it to the regiol center,” Kam said.   “The Assistant Director also said that some of our trainee candidates who appeared for the exam whose marks card was not reflected in the website of the NIOS , is of the fact that they made a mistake while choosing their optiol subjects and wrongly opted the subjects so they were instead marked absent,” he said adding that the teachers also expressed thankfulness towards the leaders of the Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA), Central Body who did the follow up of this matter and found out the reason for the delay to declare this results.
