Training camp for NCC girls' battalion concludes

DIBRUGARH, August 1: The 63 Assam Girls Bn NCC began its annual training camp on July 22 at DHS Kanoi College in Dibrugarh. All total 490 cadets and 3 ANOs from 22 different colleges attended the camp, which concluded on July 31. The cadets were given training in drill, handling and firing of weapons, map reading, field and battle craft, basic first aid and persolity development.
In his opening address to the cadets, Brigadier SK Lama, Group Commander, NCC Group Dibrugarh, expressed his happiness at the spirit and motivation displayed by the cadets. He told the cadets that he himself had earlier been an NCC cadet and that NCC training instills unity, discipline and the qualities that mould the cadets into responsible citizens. He asked the cadets to make the best use of the training facilities and utilize the lessons learnt in their persol lives and for the social uplift of the country.
The cadets displayed great enthusiasm and willingly participated in all training activities, popular among which were the small arms firing and squad activities. The cadets were also given motivatiol lectures and taken on visits to the Anthropological Museum at Dibrugarh University and Jaganth Temple. Besides military subjects, the cadets were also given training in fire fighting, disaster magement and casualty evacuation. Persolity development training, including public speaking, quiz, talent contests and command of squads, boosted the confidence of the cadets.
